Apple is all set to launch 2 new AirPods in their upcoming iPhone 16 series launch. The fourth-generation AirPods are expected to replace the second and third generation models and bridge the gap between the Pro. They will feature a modern design, improved capabilities and two different models.
While we are talking about the Apple iPhone 16 series launch, there also may be another exciting surprise that the company is coming up with following its launch event in September. According to the reports, Apple has been planning to launch two new models of the AirPods this year. And according to the latest information, these models may replace both AirPods 3 and AirPods 2.
The AirPods 2, which debuted in 2019, features a design similar to the original AirPods and may be seen to lack various features. The report suggests that Apple will be replacing the AirPods 2 with an entry-level AirPods 4 variant featuring a modern design and enhanced capabilities. Similarly, Apple AirPods 3 from the year 2021 will be swapped with a higher-end version of the AirPods 4 model.
Both the entry-level version and high-end version of Apple AirPods 4 would share a similar design, with a striking difference in the Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) technology being limited to only the higher-priced model. The entry-level model is likely to miss out on the ANC technology but is expected to feature USB-C charging, just like the higher-end model. The higher-priced model will serve as a bridge between the Pro version and the entry-level AirPods.
Reports have also suggested that the entry-level AirPods would be called "AirPods Lite," while the higher-priced model could carry the branding of AirPods 4 (fourth generation).
Both of the models of AirPods are expected to launch along with the iPhone 16 series, accompanied with the new Apple Watch at the official Apple event by September second week.
