This settlement could provide compensation to a significant number of affected users.

Apple Watch
Are you using an old Apple Watch? If yes, then there's a high chance that your wearable device's display could be bloated. The older Apple Watch models including Series 1, Series 2 and Series 3, have been reported facing battery swelling issues to which the Cupertino based tech giant has agreed to pay $20 million settlement in a new class-action lawsuit. If you own one of the affected models, you could get paid for free. Your Apple Watch might seem fine, but check it's battery health and see if you’re eligible for compensation.

Though Apple has denied the claims made in the lawsuit in a statement to TechCrunch and said it has “agreed to settle to avoid further litigation.” Notably, the exact amount of the payments will depend on how many claimants ultimately end up being involved, however, it’s expected to be between $20 to $50 per eligible device.

Who’s getting paid?

You could be eligible for a payout if you have a first-generation Apple Watch, Series 1, Series 2, or Series 3 and you are having problems with the battery swelling. The most important thing in this case is that you had to have complained or contacted customer service about the problem at some point between April 24, 2015, and February 6, 2024.

Sarah, a user from New York, discovered that her Series 2 Apple Watch was not charging correctly and that her screen was slightly elevated. A brief phone conversation with Apple Support confirmed that battery swelling was most likely the cause. One of the fortunate few, Sarah was notified of the settlement and is now eligible to submit a claim for a cash payment.

How much is Apple paying?

The number of claims will determine how much you get. The payout might be closer to $50, or almost Rs 4000, if there are fewer claims. It may fall closer to the $20 mark, or about Rs 1700, if there are more claims.

How to file your claim?

Go to watchsettlement.com, the settlement website, scan a QR code, and file your claim. A check, an ACH transfer, or even a prepaid Visa or MasterCard are your options for how to get your money. Your claim must be filed by April 10, 2025.

Apple’s Most Affordable Phone, iPhone SE, May Launch Next Week: Reports
According to a Bloomberg report, the iPhone SE 4 is gearing up to launch in the coming days, and Apple's upcoming smartphone could go on sale later this month. The company has released three versions of the iPhone SE since 2016, and the next generation model is expected to resemble the iPhone 14 and arrive without a home button and Touch ID. Apple no longer ships devices with a Lightning port, which means the iPhone SE 4 will come with a USB Type-C port. It is also said to offer support for Apple Intelligence features.

iPhone SE Expected Launch Timeline and Features

The iPhone SE 4 generates significant buzz, with rumours pointing to a major redesign and performance boost. Recent whispers, including those from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, suggest a possible launch as early as next week, though this remains unconfirmed.

A key change is expected to shift to a modern design, ditching the iPhone 8-inspired look for a larger 6.1-inch OLED display and a notch, similar to the iPhone 14. This means Face ID will likely replace the iconic home button for authentication.

Under the hood, the SE 4 is rumoured to pack the powerful A18 chip, the same one expected in the iPhone 16 series. This would bring flagship-level performance to the budget-friendly SE. There's also talk of Apple's first in-house 5G modem debuting in this device.

The camera is also likely getting an upgrade. A 48MP sensor is rumoured, similar to the iPhone 14's primary camera, promising better image quality, especially in low light.

With these upgrades, a price increase is expected. Estimates suggest a starting price of around $499, which is still speculative. Even with a higher price, the SE 4 could be a strong contender in the mid-range market, offering a compelling mix of performance, features, and Apple's ecosystem. While these details are based on rumours, they paint an exciting picture of the potential iPhone SE 4. We await Apple's official announcement and confirmation.
