Google will be holding its next Made by Google event way earlier than expected. Unlike last year's Google Pixel 8 launch event which was held in October, this time Google will be launching its next Pixel 9 series smartphones alongside other devices on August 13, 2024. The tech giant has officially confirmed the event date via X (formerly known as Twitter) and other channels. It has also teased the design of the upcoming smartphone showcasing a new visor camera design on the back. However, the exact number of devices that will be revealed on that day remains a mystery.
As shared by the Google on its event page, the teaser video shows a silhouette of the Pixel 9 smartphone with a new visor camera design. The smartphone in the teaser video has not been confirmed by the company, however, it could be the Pixel 9 Pro or the Pixel 9 Pro XL, as both of which have a similarly placed three rear-facing cameras in the new capsule-shaped camera module. This year, Google seems to change the rear camera module design from the traditional visor-shaped camera module (running from side to side) which we have been seeing since the Pixel 6 series.
The devices will be launched globally including India as well. Though Google hasn't revealed any details except the design, It is expected to launch the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and the purported Pixel 9 Pro XL with the same Google Tensor G4 processor. Once again, the chipset used in Pixel 9 series smartphones could be based on the Samsung Exynos architecture. Google will reportedly move to TSMC not before 2025.
Apart from these, we can also expect Pixel 9 series handsets to come with Artificial Intelligence features like Magic eraser tool, enhanced integration of Gemini, stable version of Android 15 and more.
