The Indian government has issued a high-severity alert for Google Chrome users on Windows, Mac, and Linux, highlighting multiple vulnerabilities that could allow remote attackers to compromise systems. The Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), India's cybersecurity watchdog, has strongly urged users to update their Chrome browser immediately.
The CERT-In bulletin has marked it with a high-severity rating. The post says, “Multiple vulnerabilities have been reported in Google Chrome for desktop, which could be exploited by a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the targeted system.”
These vulnerabilities could enable attackers to execute malicious code, steal sensitive information, or completely control an affected system. The consequences of such attacks can be severe, including financial loss, identity theft, and data breaches.
Google Chrome Versions Affected by Security Issues:
What should you do?
1. Update your Chrome browser: This is the most crucial step. Google has already released updates to address these vulnerabilities. To update your Chrome browser:
2. Exercise caution online: Be wary of suspicious links, emails, and attachments. Avoid clicking on unknown links or downloading files from unverified sources.
3. Enable strong security measures: Use robust antivirus software, keep your operating system and other software up-to-date, and enable firewalls to enhance your overall security posture.
CERT-In has emphasized the importance of taking these measures promptly to protect against potential cyberattacks.
