With iOS 18 rolling out soon, Apple is expected to introduce a battery intelligence feature that estimates charging times. This aligns with Apple’s ongoing strategy to improve battery health management and elevate the user experience through Apple Intelligence. What's more, the Notes App may also be revamped! Scroll to know all details.
Along with the Genmoji, Image Playgrounds and an all-new mail app, the California-based tech giant, Apple, has been prepping to enhance its iOS 18.2 update with a revolutionary feature: the ability to show users how long it will take to charge an iPhone.
The feature is powered by a new framework called "BatteryIntelligence," designed to calculate estimated recharge times based on the energy flow into the device. Users will also have the option to receive notifications with time estimates, such as how long it will take to reach an 80% charge. This development builds on iOS 18’s current battery features, which allow users to limit charging to set percentages—from 80% to 95%—to help prolong battery lifespan.
This smarter battery monitoring tool, spotted in recent beta releases, indicates Apple’s active efforts to enhance battery health management within iOS. Additionally, iOS 18 flags when the iPhone has been charged with slower or potentially less efficient chargers.
Similar to the estimated charging time display on macOS for MacBook users, this feature for iPhone reflects Apple’s commitment to consistent battery management across devices, offering users more insight and control over their charging habits to optimize battery health.
Reports also suggest that the iOS 18.2 update will also feature other integrations like Genmoji, ChatGPT Integration, Image Playground, Genmoji and more. In addition to this, the iPhone Notes App is set to get three major AI tools that will make a lot of tasks easier. Read about them before iOS 18.2 rolls out in December first week.
Image Wand: One of Apple’s new AI-powered tools, Image Wand lets users transform rough sketches into detailed illustrations. This feature, debuting in iPadOS 18.2, will be especially beneficial for iPad users, enabling them to convert simple doodles into high-quality images suitable for projects like novels, diagrams, and more. Image Wand is similar to Galaxy AI's Sketch to Image tool.
AI Compose and Rewrite: Integrated into the Notes app, this feature allows iPhone users to prompt Apple’s AI to generate text from scratch based on a description they provide. Users can also request the AI to rewrite existing text with specific instructions. The "compose" button will reportedly be located at the bottom of the Notes app, with these Apple Intelligence capabilities powered by ChatGPT.
