Great news for iOS users! WhatsApp is testing new features for iOS users to enhance their video calls with entertaining and captivating real-time augmented reality (AR) effects and filters. Once rolled out, users will be able to add a variety of effects to their video chats to make them interactive. Read out all details here.
Meta-owned popular instant messaging app WhatsApp, is giving iOS users new augmented reality (AR) tools to improve their video calling experience. Among the most significant is the variety of dynamic face filters that are offered. With the help of these filters, users can alter the overall color tone of their video feed and customize their appearance in real-time during video calls. The instant messaging app has also revealed a background editing feature that provides additional customization options for video calls. With the help of this tool, users can choose to either blur their surroundings or use one of WhatsApp's pre-set backgrounds instead.
It seems that WhatsApp wants to provide iOS users with the same chance to experiment with new augmented reality features that it does for the Android users. WABetaInfo, the WhatsApp development tracker, in its latest update shared, "Thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 24.17.10.74 update, which is available on TestFlight, we discovered that WhatsApp is rolling out an AR feature for call effects and filters."
The report also added that the another interesting feature that WhatsApp is working on, is the toggle for the low-light mode that will enhance the lighting quality of the user's video feed by enabling users to easily adjust visibility in dimly lit areas. This facilitates clear communication between users even in dimly lit areas.
Calls made in the evening or by users who frequently find themselves in dimly lit environments will find this feature especially helpful.
Furthermore, the instant messaging app is also likely to add the touch-up mode, that will bring a soft filter to give users a more refined appearance during video calls. It will help those who wants to look their best without using special lighting for important calls, and will also add some fun elements into informal conversations.
As of now, the AR feature for call effects and filters is available to some beta testers who install the latest versions of WhatsApp beta for iOS from the TestFlight app. It will be rolled out to more people over the coming weeks.
