Apple is reportedly working on a new addition to its iPhone 17 series, which could be thinner than the iPhone 16 Pro. While specific details about the new iPhone model are yet to be surfaced, industry insiders suggest that it could feature a more compact design with a thinner profile. Check details here.

Apple intends to release a slimmed-down iPhone model in 2025, which will be available for purchase alongside the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. According to reports, the upcoming iPhone lineup will be very different in a few months. The iPhone 17 line will include a slimmer phone known as the iPhone 17 Air in addition to a new iPhone SE with Face ID. We may know more about that now, according to a recent report. According to a recent report, a new modem that was designed internally will be responsible for a large portion of the design upgrade. Mark Gurman in his recent Bloomberg's newsletter claims that the upcoming iPhone 17 "Air" will be roughly two millimeters thinner than the current iPhone 16 Pro.

An iPhone 17 that is 2 mm thinner would measure about 6.25 mm, since the iPhone 16 Pro is 8.25 mm thick. The iPhone 17 Air would be Apple's thinnest iPhone to date, measuring 6.25mm. With a 6.9mm thickness, the iPhone 6 was the thinnest model we've seen so far. With the iPhone X and later models, Apple made iPhones thicker to make room for the battery, camera lenses, Face ID hardware, and other components.

The iPhone 17 Air will be outfitted with Apple's proprietary 5G modem chip, which is smaller than Qualcomm's 5G modem chips. According to Gurman, Apple was able to create the slimmed-down iPhone 17 Air without compromising battery life, the camera, or the display quality because it concentrated on making the chip more integrated with other Apple-designed components to save space within the device.

A number of credible sources have now suggested that the iPhone 17 Air will have a thickness of approximately 6 mm, which was previously rumored to be between 5 and 6 mm. It is anticipated that the iPhone 17 Air will have a single-lens rear camera in addition to a display that is approximately 6.6 inches in size.

In addition to the iPhone SE early in the year and a low-cost iPad, the iPhone 17 Air will be one of three devices to receive a custom Apple modem chip in 2025. The extra room created by Apple's improved modem chip design may enable "new designs" like a foldable iPhone. Gurman claims that Apple is still investigating foldable iPhones. ‌

As it releases increasingly potent modem chips, Apple plans to phase out Qualcomm modems over a three-year period. In order to save more room and enable closer integration between hardware components, Apple may eventually introduce a system-on-a-chip that consists of a processor, modem, Wi-Fi chip, and other components.

WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new feature that could offer Android users additional options for answering video calls. The messaging app is reportedly trialing a new feature that allows users to disable their device's camera before answering a video call. The reported WhatsApp feature in development has been found in the APK of a beta version of the application. It is said to provide users with greater control over their privacy and appearance. Leaked screenshots suggest a toggle switch within the video call interface. Read all details.

WhatsApp new feature to let users disable camera before video calls
Android Authority identified the feature after conducting an APK teardown of the WhatsApp beta app for Android version 2.25.7.3. Although the feature is not currently accessible to the public, the publication was able to enable it by experimenting with the app. It is claimed to provide a feature called Turn off your video when someone receives a video call, allowing them to disable the video before answering. This indicates that the call will supposedly be taken in a voice-only format.

If the camera is turned off, the app might show another Accept without video message as a verification. The report indicates that WhatsApp users will be able to activate the camera during a call by selecting the Turn on your video option.

Currently, WhatsApp does not provide a comparable feature. Although users have the option to disable their video feed during a video call, they can only do this after activating it. Nonetheless, the feature currently in development is anticipated to offer capabilities similar to those of Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, and various other video-conferencing platforms.

Additional WhatsApp features in progress
Previous reports indicate that the instant messaging application is creating multiple new features for Android users. One of the noted enhancements is a UPI Lite feature that is thought to streamline the payment process by allowing users to make transactions without inputting the PIN.

In the meantime, WhatsApp could soon introduce a refreshed interface for Meta AI — its conversational artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot. It is claimed to provide an automatic voice feature along with quick suggestions to assist users in beginning.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is anticipated to be added to the current Galaxy S25 series devices, which were globally launched in January. The Edge model will be sleeker than the other phones in the series. While it is anticipated to share some characteristics with the base, plus, and ultra versions, the Edge variant is rumored to have a smaller battery compared to the standard model. Currently, the phone has shown up on a certification website, indicating that it will probably have a smaller battery compared to the Galaxy S25.

The battery for the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, identified by the model number EB-BS937ABY, was found in the UL Demko database under the certification number DK-162562-UL. The advertisement indicates that the phone will feature a 3,786mAh battery. This is probably the specified capacity, and the device is anticipated to be sold with a typical 3,900mAh battery.
