Apple is all set to make another one of its "first time ever" by moving beyond China for the India-made production of its iPhone 16 series Pro models, aka iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. This move will be done by the US-based technology giant by their key manufacturing partner Foxconn Technology Group.

Apple will soon be starting to assemble the Pro models of the upcoming iPhone 16 series in India, as the brand reported on August 20. According to this insight, the company wants to diversify its production, take it beyond China and also focus on increasing its manufacturing presence in India. They will be doing so through their partner Foxconn.

As stated in the report, Apple has been considering this for the last couple of years. The US-based technology giant has now decided to manufacture the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max models in India. The report also indicates that the first batch of these India-made iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max models will be assembled within this fiscal year.

Apple's partner Foxconn's has a facility in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu, where this new manufacturing and production process will take place as the “new product introduction” (NPI) process for the Pro models of the iPhone 16 series. These models will be expected to enter the mass production phase at the same facility after they are launched.

Initially, the premium models from Apple's upcoming launch will be imported to India, and then Apple will start assembling both the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max domestically for the domestic market. Exports will also begin shortly after the launch.

Apple is expected to launch their latest iPhone 16 series globally within a month from now, approximately by the second week of September. The new models are also expected to go on sale in India by the end of the next month.

According to the report, Foxconn Technology Group will begin manufacturing the top models of the iPhone 16 series within weeks of their global launch. This strategic move aims to achieve 25% of Apple's global iPhone production in India within 3-4 years.

However, the last year when Apple introduced India-made iPhone 15 models, they were available in the country from day 1 of their launch.
