The well-known cloud backup service Google Photos, which is utilized by millions of people globally, is getting a new feature called "Undo device backup." Users can delete images and videos from their Google Photos without erasing them from the device itself thanks to this feature. If you wish to delete images and videos from your Google Photos backup while retaining them on your phone, this new feature is helpful. However, the tech giant claims that "backup will be turned off automatically on that device" after you remove your Google Photos backup. Check out all details here.

Google Photos gets "Undo device backup" feature
The Undo Backup is currently being made available to iOS users of Google Photos apps. For users who don't want all of their photos and videos to be backed up to the cloud but also don't want them removed from their device, this update attempts to enhance file management. Android users will soon be able to access it. Here;'s how you can do it.

How to undo device backup in Google Photos?

The process is simple and applies to both Android and iOS devices.

Step 1: Open the Google Photos application.
Step 2: In the upper right corner, tap your profile picture.
Step 3: Go to Backup under Google Photos settings.
Step 4: Decide to undo the device's backup.
Step 5: Check the box next to the disclaimer to confirm the action.
Step 6: Tap "Delete backup of Google Photos."

This will remove every picture from Google Photos that is currently on your device, but not from your phone. After deleting the backups, the feature will be automatically turned off for this device. You will need to use the feature again if you do not want your new photos to be stored in the cloud because they will be automatically uploaded.
