Apple’s upcoming iPhone lineup- the iPhone 16, is speculated to debut very soon in the Indian market. The phone is likely to pack several upgrades and refinements and rumors about the same is sparking debates among tech enthusiasts and Apple fans alike. Here's a look at whether the iPhone 16 will be worth the upgrade over the iPhone 15.

iPhone 16 vs iPhone 15 Major Upgrades to Expect in Upcoming iPhone Lineup
iPhone 16 vs iPhone 15
Along with the iOS 18, Apple is anticipated to reveal the eagerly anticipated iPhone 16 lineup at a September event. Since there have been months' worth of rumors around the iPhone 16, we already know a few crucial details and possible design cues. The fact that the iPhone 16 will be the first new iPhone since Apple unveiled its on-device AI platform at WWDC 2024 in June suggests that Apple Intelligence will also probably play a major part in the device's introduction.

If you currently have an iPhone 15 or you're considering buying one, you may be wondering whether to wait for the upcoming iPhone 16 or not. While we don't know the official details until Apple reveals the iPhone 16 next month, the rumors and leaks have already hinted at some of the major upgrades that iPhone 16 would pack. Here is everything we know so far.

iPhone 16 vs iPhone 15: Price

Since iPhones can be expensive, price is an important consideration to make before exchanging your phone for an iPhone 15 or 16. Although Apple hasn't revealed the iPhone 16's official price, it will probably be comparable to the iPhone 15 series, which might see a price reduction once the iPhone 16 goes on sale

iPhone 16 vs iPhone 15: Design

The iPhone 16 is anticipated to include new vertically positioned camera lenses this year, despite the fact that vanilla iPhone models often do not receive significant design enhancements or modifications. Apple has been using the same square-shaped camera module with the flashlight and camera lenses positioned diagonally since the iPhone 13. The iPhone 16 is expected to come with a pill-shaped camera module that has a flashlight positioned next to the lenses. It is said that this modification will enable the cameras to record three-dimensional videos for the Vision Pro headgear. In addition, the new Action Button on the iPhone 16 will take the place of the iPhone 15's mute button. Additionally, there are rumors that the iPhone 16 will include the much-discussed "Capture Button." Other than these small adjustments, the IP68 certification, USB-C port, and sizes are likely to remain same.

iPhone 16 vs iPhone 15: Display

The iPhone 16 is expected to retain the same 6.1-inch OLED screen with a refresh rate of 60Hz. On the other hand, new micro-lens technology is anticipated to be added to the display, perhaps improving its brightness and power consumption. Additionally, the Dynamic Island, resembling the iPhone 15, will appear on the screen.

iPhone 16 vs iPhone 15: Performance and Battery
The new A18 chipset, which promises better speed and an AI processor, is anticipated to power the iPhone 16. The A16 Bionic chipset, which debuted with the iPhone 14 Pro models, was used in the launch of the iPhone 15 last year. But Apple is including new chipsets in the regular and Pro iPhone 16 versions this year. Rumor has said that the iPhone 16 may be the first model to use a 3nm processor in a vanilla iPhone. For efficient AI processing, the iPhone 15 with 6GB RAM may also receive an update to 8GB RAM.

The 3,349mAh battery included in the iPhone 15 may be replaced with an improved 3,561mAh battery in the iPhone 16. Furthermore, the charging rate can increase from 20W to 40W for wired charging and 15W to 20W for wireless charging.

iPhone 16 vs iPhone 15: Camera

Given that we previously experienced a significant improvement last year from the 12MP primary sensor to the 48MP sensor, it is anticipated that the iPhone 16's cameras will not differ significantly from the iPhone 15. It will also come with a comparable 12MP ultra-wide camera, the only significant improvement being the addition of spatial recording capabilities. Furthermore, it is anticipated that the iPhone 16 series will run on artificial intelligence (AI). As a result, new editing features may be enabled by AI.

Google is reportedly gearing up to introduce lock screen widgets with the Android 16 QPR1 update, promising a more personalized and functional experience right from your phone's sleep screen. This long-awaited feature is set to revolutionize how we interact with our devices at a glance, bringing essential information and quick actions directly to our fingertips. Check out all details here.

Google to Bring Lock Screen Widgets on Smartphones With Android 16 QPR1 All Details
Lock Screen Widget
Google restored widgets to tablet lock screens with the December release of Android 15 QPR2, beginning with the Pixel Tablet. Since then, people have been speculating about whether the feature would eventually appear on smartphones as well, and it appears that it might. The Mountain View-based tech company has revealed that widgets will finally be available on smartphones with the Android 16 QPR1 update, as part of its Spotlight Week, which places an increased emphasis on widgets. Check out all details here.

Android 16 QPR1 Lock Screen Widget Program
The company emphasized that lock screen widgets allow users to customize their devices' experiences in a new frequently asked questions page for "Widgets on lock screen." They have access to widgets that allow them to view important information, set alarms, check the time, read stock updates, and even control smart home appliances like thermostats and lights.

Google claims that after Android 16 QPR1 is released, lock screen widgets will be accessible in the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) for smartphones and tablets. In late summer 2025, the update itself is expected to be pushed to AOSP. However, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) will not be able to customize the lock screen widget's user interface in its initial release. Therefore, regardless of the device, the developer experience will be the same. On their individual devices, they can, nevertheless, preset and show default widgets.

In the meantime, it is possible to customize the widget triggering mechanism. According to Google, OEMs have the option of using docking or charging status as widget triggers. Additionally, third-party OEMs have the option to use their own posture detection system.

Although their precise measurements are said to differ by device, the widgets are anticipated to be around 4 x 3 cells on the launcher. Google recommends that developers incorporate dynamic color and resizing into their widgets to give users the best possible experience. They have to adhere to the same quality standards for configuration, sizing, and quality as home screen widgets.

The Pixel Tablet devices that gained support after the December 2024 release of Android 15 QPR2 will be the first platforms on which developers can test their widgets.
